Tantra represents a philosophical system centered on the male and female duality fundamental for the manifestation of earthly existence.

From an iconographic point of view, this duality that becomes one is often represented as a sexual union between the male and female principles. In Tibetan Buddhist Tantras, the female part represents wisdom - prajna - while the male part represents active use, or method.

The tantric teaching aims to realize the Absolute in the Relative, allowing one to experience the subtle fabric that unites everything, reproducing the immensely large in the immensely small and vice versa.
