Prayer flags of Padmasambhava
Size: height 200cm width 75 cm
"Padmasambhava" means "Born from a Lotus" in Sanskrit, a name that describes the legendary miraculous birth of this Indian master who brought Vajrayāna Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century. He is revered in Tibetan Buddhism as the "Second Buddha" or "Guru Rinpoche" ("Precious Master"), and his figure is central to the Nyingmapa school and the foundation of Tibetan Buddhism.
Tibetan prayer flags are colorful banners that, when fluttering in the wind, spread the mantras and blessings inscribed on them, thereby bringing peace, wisdom, and compassion to the surrounding environment and to all sentient beings. Each color has a specific meaning related to the elements and Tibetan astrology, and the act of hanging these flags symbolizes the acceptance of change, the celebration of life, and the spreading of karmic merit.
